Höga Kusten!

During the last half of höstlov (autumn break), the exchange students in the Stockholm area got to go on a trip to the High Coast. It was so beautiful, and we all had the absolute best time!

Once we made it from Stockholm to Sundsvall on the train, our first stop was the High Coast bridge. We took some pictures and had a great fika. Funny story... I actually posted a picture of the bridge on my snapchat story and joked that it was the Golden Gate Bridge, and I had an embarrassing amount of my friends from San Francisco ask if I was back in CA. Love you all, but c'mon, learn you're bridges bahhaha.

We then went to this old historical house that had a bunch of cool artifacts inside. Then, at the same place, we were taught how to make this Northern Swedish bread called Tunnbröd, and it was so good (also enjoy me looking like a soccer mom while rolling it out lol). When we finally arrived at our cabins, it turned out they weren't much like cabins at all, more like houses! You can see some of us fighting over the big bed before we went to dinner around a bonfire and also made smores! We then went back to our cabin (Emma, Tommaso, Zach, James, Genevieve, Livia and I all shared one of the two), and the smothering continued with Zach jumping on top of Emma, Genevieve, and I who were all sitting on one of the couches.

The day started and we ate breakfast and then headed off to our hike at Skuleskogens nationalpark. It was a great day. We walked through stone fields, waterfalls, and the amazing Slåttdalsskrevan (the big crevice in the later pictures). We then headed down to the water to find a place to make lunch where we were put into groups (Zach and Nana were in mine) to make soup, and it was so good on a cold, windy day! And on the way down, James and Zach asked me to take a photo shoot, and I've spared you all from the 30+ photos I took of them and just included two. Funny thing too is that the three amigos (James, Tommaso, and Zach) all thought it would be a good idea to wear shorts on a freezing day, which was very entertaining. Then right before our hike was over we stopped at this Harry Potter-esque beach to have our last fika of the day. Then the rest of the day was just dinner and shenanigans at the cabins!

The next day was much more mellow, but still so fun. We started off with a short hike up to a little cafe where we could eat waffles. However, I got MAJOR elevation sickness as we climbed as we went up about 1 000 ft in only 30 minutes. But the views were so great, and we got to see a cool grotto where thieves used to hide their goods in the old days! The fog was so extremely thick, but the waffles with cloud berry jam and cream were so comforting. Then we had the option to take a ski lift or walk down, so all of my friends and I chose to do the ski lift especially since I'd never been on one, and it was so fun! Later that day we went and watched a fire show, and then grabbed dinner which was such a fun time. The rest of the night my friends in my cabin and I stayed up until 3.30 in the morning, and even debated going to sleep since we had to be up at 6.30. However, Emma and Tommaso taught me an Italian card game and I taught Tommaso speed (I have to say I was killing him at both and it pissed him of a little but we had so much fun), and we all stayed up talking and playing "What are the Chances" which is a betting game that we had been playing all week resulting in the funniest times. I seriously have some of the stupidest videos on my phone from that night but it was honestly the best day of the trip.

Then the last day came, and it was time to go home. However, we got to go to a waterpark in Sundsvall for a couple hours and that was so extremely fun, but I don't have any pictures. So then we hopped on the train in Sundsvall and headed back to Stockholm!

It was the best time!
